The discovery, the result of a study published in the scientific journal <em>Molecules<\/em>, paves the way for valuing this product of Amazonian biodiversity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A pesquisa, conduzida pela&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.embrapa.br\/amazonia-oriental\">Embrapa Amaz\u00f4nia Oriental<\/a>, Universidade Federal do Par\u00e1 (UFPA) e Universidade Federal do Maranh\u00e3o (UFMA), comparou o mel de a\u00e7a\u00ed com outros m\u00e9is monoflorais, como os de aroeira (MG), cip\u00f3-uva (DF), timb\u00f3 (RS) e mangue (PA). Os resultados revelaram que o mel de a\u00e7a\u00ed supera em at\u00e9 quatro vezes a capacidade antioxidante do mel de aroeira, um dos mais valorizados no Brasil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Segundo Daniel Santiago, pesquisador da Embrapa Amaz\u00f4nia Oriental, os polifen\u00f3is s\u00e3o respons\u00e1veis pela elevada atividade antioxidante do mel de a\u00e7a\u00ed. Esses compostos atuam no combate aos radicais livres e possuem propriedades anti-inflamat\u00f3rias, anticancer\u00edgenas e cardioprotetoras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nilton Muto, professor da UFPA e coautor do estudo, destacou que a colora\u00e7\u00e3o escura do mel, variando de \u00e2mbar a quase negro, est\u00e1 diretamente ligada \u00e0 alta concentra\u00e7\u00e3o desses compostos bioativos. Al\u00e9m disso, o sabor diferenciado, com notas sutis de caf\u00e9, foi bem avaliado em an\u00e1lises sensoriais.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Potencial econ\u00f4mico e ambiental<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Com a crescente demanda por a\u00e7a\u00ed, produtores do Par\u00e1 t\u00eam investido na poliniza\u00e7\u00e3o dirigida para aumentar a produtividade. Embora as abelhas sem ferr\u00e3o sejam mais eficientes na poliniza\u00e7\u00e3o, o custo elevado das colmeias tem levado muitos agricultores a optar pelas abelhas africanizadas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apesar das limita\u00e7\u00f5es, as africanizadas t\u00eam um raio de a\u00e7\u00e3o maior, alcan\u00e7ando at\u00e9 1.500 metros, o que favorece seu uso nas bordas das planta\u00e7\u00f5es. Segundo Santiago, ainda s\u00e3o necess\u00e1rios mais estudos para avaliar com precis\u00e3o o impacto dessa esp\u00e9cie na poliniza\u00e7\u00e3o do a\u00e7aizeiro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Perspectivas para a Amaz\u00f4nia<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\" id=\"attachment_7822\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/agroemcampo.ig.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/241015_MelAcai_Ronaldo_Rosa_polinizacao-acai.jpg?resize=350%2C232&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7822\" style=\"width:610px;height:auto\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Foto: Divulga\u00e7\u00e3o Embrapa \u2013 Ronaldo Rosa<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Atualmente, a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de mel na Amaz\u00f4nia representa apenas 2% das 64 mil toneladas produzidas anualmente no Brasil, com o Par\u00e1 respondendo por 1,5% desse total. No entanto, o estudo aponta que a apicultura pode ganhar for\u00e7a na regi\u00e3o, impulsionada pela crescente valoriza\u00e7\u00e3o do mel de a\u00e7a\u00ed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A pesquisa faz parte do projeto Agrobio, financiado pelo Fundo Amaz\u00f4nia\/BNDES, e envolve uma rede integrada de produtores, cientistas e estudantes.
